Chuka University is gearing up for an exciting week filled with cultural richness, vibrant performances, and a celebration of diversity like never before. From February 26th to March 2nd, 2024, the campus will come alive with the rhythms, colors, and stories of its students and staff as they unite under the theme "One Campus, Many Stories."
Day 1: Official Kickoff (Monday, 26/2/2024)
The festivities commence with an official opening ceremony where students and staff don their finest attire for a day of narratives, choral verses, modern dances, and skits rehearsals at the Pavilion from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
Day 2: Sports and Competition (Tuesday, 27/2/2024)
Everyone is invited to participate in a day of sports and competition, dressed in their best sportswear. The Pavilion will be abuzz with energy as students and staff compete in narratives, choral verses, modern dances, and skits competitions from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Day 3: Fun and Crazy Wear (Wednesday, 28/2/2024)
Get ready for a day of fun and craziness with color-clashing outfits as students and staff showcase their dance moves in a dance contest and traditional dances competition at the Pavilion from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Representing various Kenyan communities such as Kalenjin, Meru, Swahili, Embu, Kamba, Tharaka, Kisii, Luhya, Kikuyu, Luo, Maasai, and Pokot, the campus will be a riot of cultural expressions.
Day 4: Beauty Contest (Thursday, 29/2/2024)
It's time to don your casual wear and get creative with your hats as the Pavilion hosts the much-anticipated Mr. and Miss Chuka University contest from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Students and staff will showcase their beauty, talent, and charisma in this thrilling competition.
Day 5: Cultural Extravaganza (Friday, 1/3/2024)
Friday is all about embracing cultural heritage as students and staff proudly display their traditional and contemporary cultural attires throughout the day. Guests will arrive to witness the richness of Kenyan culture, followed by competitions on foods, regalia, and dishes from various Kenyan communities.
The Vice Chancellor and guests will also tour the cultural presentations by the communities, highlighting the diversity and unity within the campus.
Day 6: Grand Finale (Saturday, 2/3/2024)
The Cultural Week culminates in a grand celebration where students and staff, dressed in casual wear, gather for entertainment, awards, speeches by esteemed guests including the Dean of Students, DVC's, and Vice Chancellor, and the presentation of awards during the closing ceremony.
Displays by sponsors will be ongoing throughout the day, providing additional excitement and engagement for all attendees.
