Chuka University has issued an urgent safety advisory to all students following a series of security incidents reported in residential areas, urging heightened vigilance and strict adherence to safety measures.

The advisory, released by the Chuka University Students Association (CUSA) through the Office of the Secretary General and dated February 7, 2026, highlights concerns over recent incidents occurring within student residences. Preliminary assessments indicate that some cases resulted from rooms and premises being left unsecured, particularly during night hours.

According to the notice addressed to all students, the university administration is responding proactively to safeguard learners living both on and off campus. The advisory outlines practical steps aimed at preventing further security breaches and enhancing overall student safety.

Students have been directed to ensure that doors and windows are properly locked at night and whenever rooms are unattended. They are also required to allow access only to authorized individuals and to promptly report any suspicious activities to the university security team.

The Office of the Secretary General has called upon the student community to remain alert and work collectively in maintaining a secure campus environment, emphasizing that safety is a shared responsibility between students and security personnel.

For urgent security assistance or to report an incident, students are advised to contact the Security Toll-Free Hotline at 0800230008, while medical emergencies requiring ambulance services should be reported through the Medical Toll-Free Hotline at 0800230009, as coordinated efforts continue with the Dean of Students and the Head of Security Services to strengthen safety across the university.
