Chuka University Upcoming Cultural Week

Chuka University Cultural Week is a very crucial occasion usually held at the varsity's pavilion ground where various tribes in the diversified Chuka campus unveil their respective norms and culture. It is marked by different attires, dances, foods, and lifestyles, among other cultural activities that are yet to be unleashed during the week.


Usually held to dynamically showcase on unity and diversity amongst the cultures and takes five academic days of performance. Students are prepared to come up with different items from their respective cultures in order to showcase them on various platforms bearing in mind there is a reward for the winner.


It is transitioned from formal decent official wear on Monday where we change to different clothing like the Maa Shuka’s. Here there are performances like narratives where we get to see them in various allocated areas doing the same.

This will unfold a new approach on a Tuesday where we might transition to another occasion. We might be introduced to various tasty delicacies like the famous ugali and rech from the lakeside. Cooked under various conditions and with different ingredients. The platform shall be ready for another session like dances where we shall be able to vibe to popular (Kamabeka dance) Bukusu shoulder shaking dance among other traditional dances. All the participants will bring their items on board.


On this occasion, we shall set the stage for the prestigious, colorful beauty contest and crowning of Mr. and Mrs. Chuka University. The platform will be filled with various aspirants tagged as models. This heated competition will attract each one, irrespective of their course, as it is an open championship.


Finally, there will be a climax and closeup of everything and cover-up of all the activities. The last day of the cultural event which always is on a Friday; here will have the peak of cultural richness featuring cultural presentations, culinary competitions and the judges will be given their platform to select on the winners of the different categories.


This year's cultural week is anticipated eagerly as the various participants continue sharpening their various areas through consistent practice. In his speech during last year's finale of the cultural week, Prof. Mutembei encouraged students to recognise education as extending beyond traditional academic boundaries and to cultivate their talents and skills not only at the individual level but also to make a positive step in the society.
