Chuka University 'Vikings' Ready For 2023/24 Nationwide Rugby League

With the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) 2023/24 League Fixtures announced, Chuka University Rugby Team 'Vikings' are ready and set to take on the new season.


Vikings are drawn in the Nationwide Central League, alongside Zetech Oaks, MKU Thika, Kenya Prisons, Meru RFC, Embu RFC, Kiambu RFC and Muranga Trojans.


Head Coach James Mugendi is confident that his team is well prepared for the league. Speaking after a training session at the university grounds, Mugendi said he had seen great talent in his squad and that the players were putting in hard work and discipline required.


"We are happy with the fixtures and from our analysis, I can confidently say my players are ready for the season. We are calling on the university for support", he said.


Vikings open the season with an away fixture at Embu, when they play Embu RFC on December 02. The varsity sidere turn to action in Game Week 4 with a home fixture, where they will host Kiambu RFC on January 13, 2024 after a Game Week 2 rest and Game Week 3 blank fixture.


Game Week 5 fixture on January 20 will see Vikings travel to Meru for a fixture with fellow varsity side Meru University. Vikings host Muranga Trojans on January 27 in a Game Week 6 fixture, followed by a trip to Zetech Oaks in Game Week 8 on Februaty 10 after a blank Game Week 7.


Vikings play host to MKU Thika in Game Week 9, scheduled to be played on February 24 and will thereafter play Kenya Prisons away in Game Week 10 scheduled to be played on March 02.


The final Game Week is scheduled to be played on March 11 and will see Vikings play host to Meru RFC where they hope to replicate their pre-season dominance.


The top 4 teams will proceed to playoffs scheduled to be played between March 23 and April 04.
