Former Chuka University Students Association (CUSA) chairman Ben Geoffrey Onyango, popularly known as Jakatoo, delivered a heartfelt speech during the inauguration ceremony held on February 3rd 2026 at the Pavilion Grounds.
Jakatoo began by thanking the student body for trusting him with leadership. He noted that leadership is challenging, saying that leaders are often praised one day, questioned the next, and expected to deliver results immediately.
Former Chuka University Students Association chairman Jakatoo also highlighted key achievements from his time in office, including ensuring free access to the university, emphasizing that education should not be disrupted by unnecessary barriers. He also spoke about his efforts to support needy students, which led to an increment of bursary funds from KSh400,000 to KSh1 million, while the number of beneficiaries rose from 156 to 352 students.

He also said that he ensured an additional ambulance to enable quick responses to emergencies. More student chairs were acquired to improve student welfare.
Jakatoo further stated that during his time in office, he ensured there was promotion of the university, contributing to the admission of over 7,000 first-year students.
Jakatoo added that during his regime, there was also an amendment of the Chuka University Students Association constitution to allow representation of persons living with disabilities, calling it a major step toward inclusivity.

In his closing remarks, the former Chuka University Students Association Chairman, Jakatoo congratulated the incoming student leaders and advised them to lead with integrity, humility, and openness. He said he was leaving office grateful, fulfilled, and hopeful, ready to support the new leadership from the sidelines.
