Happy Valentine's Day.
Happy Valentine's Day.

Valentine's Day is always celebrated worldwide on 14th February every year. It's celebrated by those who love each other, by exchanging expensive gifts and going on dates and vacations. People in Chuka University who are single have different perceptions about this day.

Being single on Valentine's Day comes with a mix of emotions for some, it might be a time of reflection or even loneliness, especially when surrounded by couples celebrating the day which has been dubbed the ‘Day of Love’.

You might feel left out or like you're missing something that others have. On the other hand, it can also be an opportunity to focus on self-love and personal growth. Some people embrace it as a chance to do something they enjoy, whether that's treating themselves, spending time with friends, or just enjoying a quiet day without the pressure of romantic expectations.

According to Peter Munene a student at Chuka University on Valentine's Day, many women put their men under pressure demanding expensive gifts as a symbol of love.

Men, on the other hand, may not be in a position to openly speak about how ridiculous some of those requests or needs are to them.

Munene who takes pride in being single claims it’s a good escape from financial burdens in the name of Valentine’s Day. On this day some men unable to come through for their lovers may feel depressed or feel low. According to Nelly Makena, “Valentine’s Day has turned many girls into beggars as they desperately ask for gifts from their partners which is not good”.

The Late Whitney Houston in her hit classic ‘The Greatest Love of All’, advises people to love themselves since self-love is the greatest love of all. To all lovers and single people out there, as Valentine’s Day comes to a climax do enjoy yourself and do not lose your dignity.
