How University Students Can Make the Most of Their Long Holiday Break

By Samuel Mwangi,

Many university students are starting their long holiday break, and you may be wondering how they will spend the four months off. What do you expect and what should you not expect?

The long break, usually a break from academics, gives some students the chance to do internships in their fields and marks the end of the academic year. It's a good time to relax from studies, while highlighting the need for ongoing learning and skill-building. This period is perfect for students to focus on things they're passionate about, like taking a short course, finding a job, growing personally, pursuing hobbies, going on an adventure, or dealing with other tasks on their list.

Reflecting on your past long holidays and pinpointing fields of strength and weaknesses and working on them is also important for growth. When you do so, you can set a plan up, a wise person works . A it is much easier to attach meaning to a plan. The plan can either be written down or you can make mental notes depending on what works well for you. As one sets the plan, one should be realistic and smart not to overwhelm yourself and avoid being lazy in the process. Going easy on yourself and working with the right attitude, that is to improve yourself, not working to be perfect, will help you in the achievement of your goals. Taking each day at a time will help you avoid multitasking, and it will also help you to check your mental health. Knowing how to deal with stress and depression as a student in these hard economic times makes you remain optimistic and focus on the right issues.

There is never a perfect time to do something. This means that if there is something that you have been planning to do for a very long time that might be beneficial to your personal growth, go ahead and do it. Avoid being stuck in a lot of information overload than putting your knowledge and skills into action. Cut off bad habits that continues to drain you mentally, physically, and financially. Avoid taking substances that tamper with your logical reasoning. This will help you gauge situations in the right mind. Avoid abusing drugs and any other process addiction like porn or electronic gadgets addictions.

During your long holiday, bond with family and friends. Impress your parents by being a good son or daughter and create a good living environment for others. Be beneficial to other people and yourself by applying what you have learned in class in the real world.

Let's take responsibility for our actions and hold ourselves and others accountable. Practice gratitude and contentment. Make yourself and others proud.
