Have you ever wondered why Gen Z has become such a “hot” generation in this era? Unlike previous generations often bound by hatred, politics, tribalism, or racism, Gen Z stands out as a generation driven by unity, empathy, and digital activism.
This was clearly demonstrated on 28th September 2025, when thousands of Gen Zs gathered at the home of 17-year-old Vincent “Kaluma Boy” in Othaya, Nyeri in Kenya to support his ailing father. The movement, which began on social media platforms like TikTok through influencers such as Swings Mauno and others, became a national moment of compassion and solidarity.
Kaluma, known for his resilience, has been taking care of his ill father, who reportedly suffered a stroke. He first rose to fame after a viral TikTok video in which he daringly ate raw aloe vera — a unique act that caught public attention. Since then, he has used his platform to share snippets of his daily life, working casual jobs (vibarua) in tea plantations to support his family.
His humility and authenticity touched the hearts of many, making him a symbol of perseverance and genuine love while using the song Watch me by Busy signal emphasizing the words " I'ma be alright".
Thanks to the overwhelming support, his father is now receiving treatment and has shown encouraging progress. Organizations such as Bishop Ben’s JCM Church and Mofarm Company have also stepped in to offer assistance during the healing journey.
Many have since remarked that perhaps these blessings are a reflection of the good deeds done by Kaluma’s father — a reminder that kindness never goes unrewarded.
This story challenges us all to reflect: What good have we done that may one day come back to help us in our time of need?
Do good — for God, or Allah, will surely remember it.
