Who is Purity Benjamin?
Purity Benjamin is a second-year student, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. She has some responsibilities up her sleeve, including being a writer for the Chuka Campus Review and being an editor and the Vice-chairperson of the Chuka University Press Club.
She is the technical writer for She-Code Africa Chapter, a non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Chuka that empowers women in tech.
She also takes pride in being the Deputy Coordinator for Africa Youth Network Kenya under the leadership of Eddie Okello who is the head of Rotaract Kisumu Kenya, which deals with advancing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the government and coordinating activities in the country like Zero Hunger Campaign.
Political Aspirations?
Benjamin’s motive is to leave Chuka University and its environs a better place than she found it motivating her to vie for the female non-resident position. She compliments the current regime for a job well done. She hopes to spearhead and enhance their work by improving the following: off-campus security, improved communication and transparency, advocacy and representation, inclusivity, complete wellness and emphasis on mental health.
Her political career has been faced with some minor challenges like balancing between campaigns and her personal chores, but she promises her voters to fully commit herself to their needs.
How do people describe Benjamin?
Blaise Gitonga a fourth-year student pursuing a Bachelors of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication, who is also a senior writer and an editor for the Chuka University Press Club had the following to say concerning Benjamin’s personality.
“I have known and interacted with Purity for nearly two years, primarily through our work in the Chuka University Press Club, where she has risen to the position of Vice Chair. As a writer, Purity has demonstrated remarkable creativity and passion for storytelling, particularly in the field of technology, earning her various awards and recognition. Despite being a computer science student, she has mastered the art of news and feature writing, which is truly commendable. Purity is hardworking and consistently meets deadlines, which has propelled her to the rank of Editor. As an individual and aspiring leader, Purity is dedicated to the well-being of others and is a strong advocate for representation and advocacy. She is kind-hearted, intelligent, and a fervent champion of change.’
Rosalinda Mukami a second-year student pursuing Bachelors of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication describes Benjamin to be a nice person, who has great ideas and good team player.
Benjamin loves to read and binge-watch movies and also describes herself as an ambassador of peace.
