The ongoing UASU lectures boycott in public universities which started on Tuesday 29th October due to failure of the government in meeting conditions stated on the return to work formula signed on 26th September has caused panic among students.
These strikes which have disrupted learning for one week in public universities remains unsolved as students are afraid they won't manage to complete their syllabus in case these strikes continues.Dr.Alice Lonanini who is the chairperson of UASU Chuka chapter, their resumption to work will depend on whether their will be a positive response from interministerial meeting scheduled on Thursday 7th November.
The scheduled meeting which is to bring on table the council in charge, ministries of education, labour and Treasury becomes the hope for both lectures and students.According to Chuka UASU secretary Motindi Thomas, lecturers are ready to go back to class as soon as money hit their account. "The faster the response the better for both parties,"lecturers said
The UASU leader have also urged students to be hopeful in resumption of classes soon saying exams shall not be delayed and will done as planned earlier.Additionally, they shall make up for unattended classes and have the syllabus fully covered before exams.
