SHAPING THE FUTURE:CHUKA EVENT AIMS TO INSPIRE FUTURE INNOVATORS

What opportunities exist for young women who want to build careers in technology? Students at Chuka university are set to explore answers to this question during an upcoming international women’s day event organised by the Pink hub club in partnership with She Code Africa and campus Review on 14th March 2026 at Business centre left wing room 003.
The event aims to inspire more women to pursue careers in the technology industry by exposing students to professionals working in different tech fields. Speakers from companies such as Microsoft and safaricom are expected to share their experiences and discuss the various career paths available in the tech sector. For the first time, the club has brought speakers from different fields which include; two from software engineering, an AI advocate ,System design Network engineer,AI Machine Learning engineer , IT operations officer, cyber security engineer,and product manager at Microsoft .
The speakers are Brenda Kanana from Safaricom, Jennifer Otieno a cyber security engineer, Sarah Sindet a software engineer, Wendy a devops engineer, Ivy a machine learning engineer, Joyce B a product manager at Microsoft, Berryl Nekesa a software engineer at Microsoft and a game development mentor who will join the event virtually from Germany.

According to the organizers, the forum will also highlight several learning opportunities offered through the pink hub community. This include a seven week graphic design masterclass opened to both male and female students, as well as a game development series organised under the She Code Africa Chuka Chapter. The programs are designed to equip participants with practical digital skills while encouraging creativity and innovation.

The event is also expected to attract students from different universities creating a platform for networking, mentorship and knowledge sharing among young people interested in technology. Organisers say such interactions are important to helping students understand where to begin their tech journeys and how to build the skills required in the industry.
By bringing together experienced professionals and aspiring tech enthusiasts, the event hopes to motivates students to challenge traditional barriers and take advantage of opportunities in the growing technology sector. Through mentorship, exposure and community support, the organizers believe more young women will gain the confidence to pursue careers in technology and contribute to shaping the future of the industry.
