Preparations for the annual Chuka University Cultural Week are in final stages as students and staff prepare for the event that is set to start from 31st March to 4th April, 2025. The theme for this year’s festival is ‘Pride of Kenya: Celebrating our Identities’ and will see participation in categories such as cultural dances, cultural music, traditional foods and a display of traditional artefacts.
The event which is sponsored by Indomie and Lush Hair, among other partners will culminate with the much-anticipated Mr and Miss Chuka University Beauty Contest, after a week-long display of cultural diversities.
During the festival week, specific outfit themes have been identified as follows: Monday – 70s Edition, Tuesday – High School Edition, Wednesday – Grandparents Edition, Thursday – Fun and Creative Wear, Friday – Cultural Attire, and Saturday – Casual Wear.
According to the institution, the event is meant to nurture talent, share experiences and embrace diverse cultures within Chuka University.
Last year, the Luhya community won in the cultural dance category, while Kalenjin and Turkana took second and third positions respectively. Kikuyu community won in the food and clothing category, followed by Turkana and Embu in second and third.
Eugene Masika and Hellen John were also crowned as Mr and Miss Chuka University 2024/25.
