UV nail dryers have changed how people get long-lasting manicures. First introduced in the 1990s along with gel nail polish, they made salon visits quicker by speeding up drying time and making polish more durable. The UV nail dryers are marketed mostly by the beauty supply stores. But also through social media and influencer marketing to promote their effectiveness.
However concerns have been raised about their effect on the skin .Research shows that using the UV dryers often can cause skin damage, skin drying ,skin aging faster and also skin cancer.

The studies show that the use of them once in a while could not really be harmful compared to frequent exposure which could lead to long term effects.
A big concern with UV nail dryers is that they give off ultraviolet light which is known to harm skin cells.Just like sunlight, these rays can damage collagen and elastin causing wrinkles and dark sports over time. Some studies suggest that using UV dryers often might slightly increase the ris of skin cancer especially for people who get gel manicures regularly or those with sensitive skin.Yes the risk is minimal but skin experts recommend the use of sunscreen or wearing UV-protective gloves to help protect the skin.
UV nail dryers not only do they affect the skin's health but also cause irritation.Such that the skin's natural moisture is taken away. Some people may notice redness or peeling on the skin. The hands become rough and very sensitive. It is noted that if the gel polish does not dry properly under the light, it can lead to skin irritations and allergies.Skin exoerts therefore recommend people to keep hands moisturized and avoid regular use of UV nail dryers.
To stay safe safe while using UV nail dryers people should take precautions.Applying sunscreen on the hands before using the UV dryers to protect the skin and wearing UV protective gloves with open fingertips .It is also recommendable to avoid frequent gel manicures and let nails rest between treatments. To prevent dryness and irritation keep the skin moisturized and ensure the gel polish dries properly to avoid the risk of allergies.Well, those with sensitive skin should consider using LED nail dryers or air- drying instead of UV nail dryers to be more safe.
