Pregnancy: The Experience Of Creating A Life

Once a woman discovers she is expectant, to some anxiety cripples while others a fabulous mood fills the air.


About 150 expectant mothers gathered in Komarock Chuka branch to share their experiences on their pregnancy journey as well as network On Saturday,24th February, famous Kenyan actress Jackie Matubia and Nicolas Kioko attended the event which centered on Pregnancy Experience .


Jackie shared her pregnancy journey highlighting that she delivered her second born baby in Komarock Utawala branch. The actress congratulated the expectant mothers and encouraged them to follow the doctor’s prescription in order to maintain a healthy maternal life.


“To the single mothers, whatever you bring forth he or she is a blessing to you,” she said. Jackie noted that her motivation for having the pregnancy experience journey in Komarock Chuka branch was to make sure women in rural areas are getting proper medication and facilities when it comes to giving birth because most people in rural areas deliver in homes and other remote areas.


She highlighted that she aimed at introducing Komarock modern hospital to them through her pregnancy. “This is the best place to be and have your little child,” she added.





Harriet Nyamu, the managing Director stated that the events of similar kinds will be held annually and they would announce the date of the events when time is due. The managing director said that they had hosted similar events in Kathwana and Utawala last year.


“We have partnered with the government and NHIF to provide Linda Mama in Kathwana, we also take NHIF cards for delivery in Kathwana, “she said. By doing so they make sure that most of the expectant mothers have delivered in hospitals and offered safe affordable maternal services. Komarock trains mothers before and after delivery .


It offers services such as in patient and outpatient, major and minor theatre, specialized clinics, ICU, new born units, dental services among others. Mothers did not shy off to share their experiences.


Catherine a mother of one said in her first trimester she experienced fatigue and morning sickness. She classified her pregnancy journey as a smooth one because she did not experience any challenges.

"I was a student back then, the only challenge I faced was striking a balance between my studies and my bringing up the child,” noted Catherine.


Jane a mother of two delivered all her babies by caesarean section termed her both pregnancies as hectic.”Sikuwa anapata usingizi wa kutosha, nilikuwa Na uchungu ulikuwa umepita kiasi, “she said.


Naomi a student at Tharaka University shared her experience after having her first born baby early this month.” I was happy to become a mother of one and I did not experience any challenges, “she added.




The government has put in place initiatives such as Linda mama to enable women deliver safely countrywide especially in rural areas. Producing transformative benefits to women’s health, agency and income through increased access to family planning is one of the maternal health initiative implemented by the government.


On-governmental organizations such as Kamaneh’s mandate is to identify, address and prevent complications that arise during pregnancy, labor, delivery and postpartum periods.
