X's New Grok AI: A Game Changer in Social Media Interaction

In a recent update, X, formerly known as Twitter, has integrated a new AI chatbot, Grok, into its platform which is available now to Kenyan users. This innovative feature is set to revolutionize the way users interact on social media.

Grok AI: The New Kid in town

Grok AI, developed by Elon Musk's AI startup, is designed to offer a different spin compared to other AI chatbots. Promoted as snarky, witty, and rebellious, Grok is also touted as "anti-woke", reflecting Musk's criticism of other AI models for being too politically correct.

How Does Grok Work?

Grok operates conversationally, drawing on a knowledge base similar to that used to train the AI models powering ChatGPT and Google's AI. It can incorporate real-time data from posts on X into its responses, enabling it to answer questions with up-to-the-minute info.

Grok's Unique Features

Grok can run in two different modes - fun mode for some wit and snarkiness, and regular mode for supposedly more serious conversations. It also has the ability to roast users based on their posts on X.

Availability and Pricing

To use Grok, users have to be an X Premium+ subscriber, which costs $16(KSH 2,522) a month or $168(KSH 26, 796) a year. Currently on X (Twitter) it's indicated "starting at Ksh 3,800.")for The service was initially available only in the US, but has now been extended to India and 46 additional countries, including Australia, Pakistan, New Zealand, Canada, Singapore,Sri Lanka and kenya. You can now access it if you have the latest version of X.

User Reactions

Initial user reactions to Grok have been mixed. Some users have praised its unique approach and conversational style, while others have raised concerns about its behavior, as it may confidently provide factually incorrect information, mis-summarize, or miss some context; this is according to ZDNET.

The Future of Grok

Despite its current limitations, Grok represents a significant step forward in the integration of AI into social media platforms. As the technology continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see how Grok and other similar AI tools will shape the future of online interaction.
