Chuka University Students Urged To Prepare For Return To Class Amid Security Concerns
By Chris Omondi

Chuka University students have been urged to prepare for a possible return to class this week, with CUSA Chairperson Alaska Keith Kipchumba saying they could be called back at any time.
Speaking during a church service held at the university’s Pavilion Grounds, Kipchumba called on students to remain alert for official communication regarding the resumption of learning.
He also raised concerns over the security of students living around the university, urging them to take extra precautions following reports of attacks and theft in the area. He advised students to keep their doors securely locked, even when inside their rooms, and consider additional security measures as concerns grow over reported incidents involving intruders entering students’ residences.
The chairperson further acknowledged calls for improved security lighting in the surrounding areas, while encouraging students to remain vigilant and report incidents to the relevant authorities.
His remarks come amid reports of students being attacked and losing personal belongings, including a reported incident involving a student who was injured with a machete and another who reported a road attack and phone theft to the police. The details of these incidents should be confirmed with the relevant authorities.
Beyond security, Kipchumba urged students to continue supporting colleagues facing financial and other welfare challenges. The church service, organised by the Chuka University Christian Union, also provided an opportunity for students to contribute towards the welfare of fellow students who continue to struggle.
He emphasised the importance of unity, compassion and collective responsibility within the university community, calling on students to look out for one another as they await further communication on the return to class.
